今日は、毎月恒例となっている代官山のCafe SighでのDJでした。

美味しいお酒や料理に、お喋りに、大好きなレコードをかけての贅沢な時間。

そして、わたしは今日読ませてもらったのですが、SUB POPからリリースされたDum Dum Girlsのアルバムの日本国内盤のライナーノーツをsumireちゃんが書いています！

作品に対する事柄だけでなく、Dum Dum Girlsから広がるコト、音楽を超えてや、ジャケットに対する解釈など、sumireちゃんらしく綴られています。

CDを買ってからでないと読めないのが勿体ないです。（と言うわたしも、レコードを買っていたのでCDは購入して無いのですが、、、）

そして、歌詞の訳が、すっごく素敵でした。

小説を読んでいるような。

詞を読んでいるような。

レコードしか買わないと、歌詞が読めないのは残念、、、

歌詞を読みつつ聴きたい1枚です。

Spirit Youth

The Depreciation Guild - "Spirit Youth"

I have hated a pleasurable melody from as far back as one can remember.
Haunted by sounds have shadow and melancholy somehow.
Still have difficulty accepting "happy-ending" movie , Also I choose novel which has tragic story....I am amazed at my darkness, but I feel empathized with The Depreciation Guild's 2nd release "Spirit Youth" and It makes me feel this affections are not only mine but also universal susceptibilities.

Kurt who is drummer of Pains Of Being Pure At Heart has part of Guitar / Vocal on The Depreciation Guild.Their song "Crucify you" tell you how beautiful teenagers’ specific ghoulishness by the painful lyrics and melody in a similar way M83 express their songs "Kin And Jessie" and "Don's Save us from The Flame".

I am attracted by the sound like Air France or Radio Dept that strumming noisy guitar blend with vanishing vocal.Further more I am fascinated with floating feeling and story nature which "Dream About Me" has.

The stage of this album release party was full of sense of tension.
The reason might be this was first show after new keybord-ist joined,
Further audience's expectations and pressure begin building caused this.

lusciously tantalizing melody of "My Chariot" refrain in my ear and
it seems never stop even after the show.

物心がつくころから愉快なメロディーなんて大嫌いだった。
どこか影や憂いのあるサウンドに心惹かれてしまう。
happy endingの映画に対して抵抗があったり、悲劇的な展開の小説を
選んでしまったり、自分の暗さには少しばかりあきれてしまうが
彼らの２枚目のアルバムとなる"Spirit Youth"を聴いた時に
自分の気持ちとシンクロして、この感情は世界共通なのかもしれないと思ってしまった。

Pains Of Being Pure At HeartのドラマーであるKurtが
ギター、ヴォーカルをとるこのバンドはM83が"Kim And Jessie"、"Don't Save us From the Flames"でTeenager特有の残酷さがどれだけ美しいものなのか
語る様に、" Crucify you"でその切ないメロディと詞から教えてくれる。

Air FranceやRadio Deptのようなかき鳴らされるギターと、
消えてなくなってしまいそうな歌声がブレンドされたサウンドにも
魅かれるが、それ以上に浮遊感と物語性をもった"Dream About Me"に
私は心を奪われてしまう。

このアルバムのリリースパーティーでの彼らのステージは
緊張感に満ちていた。新しいキーボードのメンバーが参加してからの
初ステージということもあるが、これから目の前で繰り広げられる
夢のようなサウンドへの会場の期待の眼差しがそうさせたのかもしれない。

ライブを終えた後も"My Chariot"の甘くとろけるサウンドが
私の耳の中で止まる事無く鳴り響いている。

Back From NYC

ただいま皆様＊

無事にNYCから帰って参りました！

そしてindie popの祭典であるNYC popfestでDJもしてきました！

沢山の人からフィードバックを貰い、とても嬉しかったのと、

The Wake！！Veronica Falls、そして悲しくも解散となってしまったPants Yellのライブを

見る事が出来たり、Cloudberry RecordsのRoque、Baby HoneyのAnastasiaなど

世界中のindie geekに直に会って話が出来たのもとても嬉しかったです。

最終日はというと、

Sea Lions、Apple Orchard、Young FriendsやThe Embassyなどが出演

自分もDJで沢山のレコードかけました。The B-TeamをPainsのKipが知っていたり！Harrisonsにめちゃくちゃ反応するインディオタクさんたちもいて、楽しくないはずがない。

The Young Friends

その名の通り、溢れる若さと楽曲の良さが際立っている４ピース。

The Drumsチルドレンな爽やかで弾けるメロディーがカッコいい。

Apple Orchard
熟練されたシューゲイズサウンド、このラインナップの中では異色な感じで飛び抜けてました。
普通に上手いし、こういうバンドは絶対に時代に必要。


Sea Lions
前回LAのechoで見た時よりも断然良くなってて、しかもあのグルーブが利いたサイケデリックな
サウンドを万華鏡の様に目まぐるしく演奏できるのは彼ら以外に考えられない。


A Smile And A Ribbon
Cloudberryから7"がリリースされた記憶にも新しいSwedenのバンド。
クラシックなアレンジと、何よりVocalの女の子を筆頭にみんな正装をしていて可愛い。
鍵盤ハーモニカや楽器の使い方もチャーミング＊


The Embassy
彼らがライブをやっているというのを聞いた事があまり無いし、それに存在自体がかなりミステリアスだったので
見るのをとても楽しみにしてました。Horse ShoesのDrewもベースでサポート。
シンセとドラムのサンプリングのビートが心地良い
素敵なライブでした。
